Mike Gilbert, President

Mike brings more than two decades of operational and travel management experience, including customer service, brand management, direct marketing, and new business development expertise. Mike also has extensive experience working with university travel programs. Prior to joining TSS, he spent a decade working directly with universities and students. At STA Travel, then the largest student travel provider globally, he held a series of positions, including Branch Manager, Sales Director for Southern US, and Director, ID Card Division and Insurance Products. He has spent his career managing and facilitating travel on behalf of numerous distinguished universities and is uniquely qualified to help client institutions engage their constituents, mitigate the inherent risks of travel and to operate a unique benefit for their members without the costs of dedicated internal staffing. Danette M. Stephens, Founder

Founder of Travel Study Services, Danette has more than 25 years of business and non-profit leadership experience. Prior to founding TSS, Danette served as Director of Strategic Planning for the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA). Her efforts resulted in unprecedented changes within the HAA including a Presidential commitment to increase operational funds and a reorganization of both the Board of Directors and internal operations. While working on the HAA strategic plan, Danette recognized the need for outsourced travel study management services. TSS was formed in 2001, upon completion of the HAA' s strategic plan.

Danette has held management positions with Kelly Services, Inc., General Motors Corporation and Sport Obermeyer. Aside from founding TSS, other successful entrepreneurial efforts include owning and operating a retail and distribution company, as well as a sports facility and numerous real estate developments. She has traveled to six continents and over 100 countries. Danette holds an AB from Harvard College.
